Superbad - film review

I just saw Superbad for the first time. I think it was a great film and reminded me a lot of high school.

It was really funny and the cops were absolutely hilarious. The girl leaving her period stain on the fat kid’s pants while grind dancing with him at the party, ect…

I really enjoyed this film!

Very funny with lots of laughs.

govt of Canada’s finest programming

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20071204.wpassport1204/BNStory/National/home

A security flaw in Passport Canada’s website has allowed easy access to the personal information - including social insurance numbers, dates of birth and driver’s licence numbers - of people applying for new passports.

Yes, never check input from URLs. That would be silly.

Search engine progress

I’m almost done with the record scanner, and it’s smoking fast now. Even from user allocated memory, it’s still pretty fast.

Not Kool aid fast, guru fast. Kool aid is for losers.

Looking for a part time job in SF

I already got an offer for LA, except I don’t want to drive 4-5 hours in traffic to get to the office in SF.

I sent this to a couple companies, but I will repost it here:

#################### PITCH ###########################

Hi, I am currently the president of a Canadian software company called BeerCo. I am moving my company to the SF area in July. I am looking for a part time position to supplement my income as I launch my search engine Peeplr with a small team near SF.

I am an expert in the following: C++, C, Java, PHP, XML/RPC, bash script

I am proficient in the following: Assembly language, VB, C#

I am looking for a part time position for at least 60k per year.

My PHP webmail program, PHPmail sold over a year ago for 175k to a Stuart, Florida company.

I also cloned friendster in SiteSpaces.net and have run that website for over 2 years.

My company here in Canada grosses 1/4 million per year and employs 4 people full time and employed 4 other part timers, but this year netted nothing thanks to the CAD, rising fixed expenses and the Canadian govt.

This year 2007 is similar, yet there are like 8x more employees, so those employees and the employer side of the employee tax burned that to the ground.

My point is, what is the point of working, when they take all the money?
So that is why I am launching Peeplr in SF and need to get a side job there.

If Peeplr grosses 5 million dollars in 2008 in SEO, then the taxes here will be about 100% higher in that bracket than in California. It would be irresponsible to stay in Canada noting what the govt has done here in previous cases.

If I launch a search engine here, not only will it fail for logistical reasons. The govt will effectively usurp the income from it completely.

I grew up and worked in NYS, and I’ve never seen the likes of the wastes of Canada.
They actually think re-appropriating 75% of small business’s income to cultural projects, bologna projects and festivals is in the public’s interest. Not to mention what they flat out steal in personal expenses attributed to their govt jobs. Then again they are total crooks to begin with.

I am not a bum. I earn lots of money. I just want to keep some of it.

#########################################################

Basically, I just want a part time position for a year or 2 while I launch my search engine, which is almost ready to go into beta. I don’t think liquidating an office, some property and a new car a is going to go very far in SF, so I think I better have a part time position.

The unprofitable outsourcing business will not work there as the average income is 62k in SF, so the only income will come from SEO campaigns on the Peeplr search I am releasing, which need to be promoted before they are profitable. The vast reduction in taxes in California vs. Canada will not compensate for the higher salaries there. They are about 300-600% higher than Quebec, Canada.

The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the wealthiest regions in the United States. According to the United States Census Bureau, of the 280 defined metropolitan areas, the San Francisco Bay Area has the highest median household income in the nation with $62,024 in the year 2000. ..

While only 26% of households nationwide boast incomes of over $75,000 a year, 48% of households in the San Francisco Bay Area enjoy such incomes.[10]incomes exceeding the $100,000 mark in the Bay Area was double the nationwide percentage.

Oh, and go USA!
